¿Sueñas con unas vacaciones en Wailea? ¡Nosotros te ayudamos a hacerlas realidad!

En Wailea, en la isla de Maui, encontrarás muchos kilómetros de playas de arenas doradas y exuberantes palmeras. Además, hay fantásticos campos de golf, restaurantes y un montón de resorts de lujo. También es muy fácil llegar, está a tan solo 30 minutos del aeropuerto de Kahului, el principal de la isla. Todos los días hay vuelos directos desde varias ciudades, como Los Ángeles, Las Vegas o Chicago. Aunque si vuelas desde España tendrás que hacer necesariamente una o varias escalas.

Maui recibe viajeros durante todo el año, porque hace bueno y suele brillar el sol sea la época que sea. Los meses de junio a agosto son los preferidos por muchos para venir en verano. Y desde mediados de diciembre a mediados de abril, la isla recibe a todo aquel que quiere hacer una escapada para huir del frío. Y es que esta isla te recibirá con la calidez de sus 150 000 habitantes, grandes atracciones naturales y restaurantes que abren todos y cada uno de los días del año. 

Kilómetros y kilómetros de playa

Hawái es famosa por sus playas de arenas multicolor: las hay blancas, doradas, negras... ¡e incluso verdes! En Wailea, las playas son doradas y de aguas cristalinas, con el Pacífico a un lado y al otro el palmeral.

No en vano, la de Wailea lleva muchos años siendo la «mejor playa de los Estados Unidos». Es la más grande de la zona y acoge varios resorts, como el Grand Wailea y el Four Seasons, así que tendrás que compartir la playa con las tumbonas y las sombrillas. A cambio, no te faltarán los chiringuitos y los restaurantes a pie de playa.

A tan solo 8 km en la misma carretera está Makena Beach, una de las playas más queridas de la isla. Si quieres hacer bodyboard o simplemente tomar el sol, te resultará complicado encontrar un sitio mejor. Hay socorrista y otros servicios, pero ninguno de los resorts de la vecina Wailea Beach. Si te apetece nadar, acércate a Little Beach, en la parte más occidental, pero ten en cuenta que es una zona en la que llevar bañador es opcional.

Si dominas el snorkel, te encantará la playa de White Rock, muy frecuentada por los habitantes de la isla, porque la visibilidad bajo el agua es excepcional, lo que te permitirá disfrutar de un montón de pececillos y otros habitantes marinos. Es verdad que aquí no encontrarás servicios de ningún tipo, pero si estás buscando algo más local y sencillo, no des más vueltas.

De campo de golf en campo de golf

Para muchos un viaje a Maui no sería tal cosa sin jugar unos cuantos hoyos. Si es tu caso, ya sabrás que en Wailea es donde están los mejores campos. La zona cuenta con tres campos de campeonato: el Wailea Emerald, el Wailea Blue y el Wailea Gold, cada uno con sus particularidades.

El de Emerald está en la lista de deseos de muchos aficionados al golf. Ofrece unas vistas espectaculares al mar y ha ganado premios de la revista Golf for Women por ser uno de los campos más populares del país entre las mujeres.

El de Gold tiene muchísimas zonas de tees para cada hoyo, así que es un campo ideal para golfistas de todos los niveles. Lo diseñó el legendario Robert Trent Jones II y muchos dicen que es un campo que te obliga a jugar con cabeza porque presenta multitud de desafíos.

El de Blue fue el primer campo del club y parece que los años no hayan pasado por él. Se le conoce como la «gran dama de Wailea» y lo diseñó Arthur Jack Snyder con vistas al volcán de Haleakala y al Pacífico, así que lo complicado aquí es mantener la concentración en el juego.

Spas para mimarte

Si el golf no se ajusta a tu idea de pasatiempo, ¿qué te parece disfrutar de un buen tratamiento de spa? Allí donde hay resorts de lujo, hay spas maravillosos; y Wailea no es la excepción. Entre nuestros favoritos está el Fairmont Kea Lani (donde Luxury Retreats también ofrece apartamentos de lujo) y el del Four Seasons.

El galardonado spa de Willow-Stream en el Fairmont ofrece tratamientos de última generación para que te relajes y cojas energía. Entre ellos, destaca un tratamiento facial que utiliza tecnología desarrollada por la NASA para alisar la piel y reducir las manchas solares. ¿Te animas a probarlo? Por supuesto, también tienen disponibles servicios de masajes, piscinas, duchas con chorro de lluvia, salas de vapor y saunas.

En el spa del Four Seasons, puedes probar la terapia HydraFacial, que utiliza un sistema de dermoabrasión para renovar la capa superficial de la piel. Si te animas a probarlo, es posible que veas una taza llena de agua sucia al final. Sí, es de toda la suciedad residual y las impurezas que te han sacado de la piel. Además, el entorno del spa es moderno y tranquilo, con una piscina infinita donde podrás disfrutar de las vistas del océano.

Si lo que quieres es pasarte una tarde dejando que te mimen, el spa del Grand Wailea ofrece 4645 metros cuadrados dedicados a darle cariño al cuerpo y a la mente. Sus tratamientos están basados en los rituales tradicionales hawaianos. Reserva plaza para el circuito de hidroterapia Termé Wailea y siente como tus preocupaciones se desvanecen a medida que vas pasando de piscina en piscina y te exfolian la piel con esponjas mientras escuchas el sonido de las cascadas de fondo.
