Get above the city, to the beautiful mountains just east of town. Take the tramway up, then take in the views.
The Sandia–Manzano Mountains are a substantial mountain area that defines the eastern edge of the middle Rio Grande valley of central New Mexico.
There's an approximate 55 min. drive to the crest, or you can take the Tramway and hike 2 miles to the crest. There are numerous hiking trails throughout, plus the Sandia Peak ski area.
