Its interior pictorial decoration makes it one of the major expressions of the baroque style in the city of Naples. The church of San Giovanni a Carbonara is famous for its treasures and illustrious tombs. The temple of the Baptist was erected on a piece of land intended for the emplacement of incinerated waste during the Middle Ages.
