Fifty years of amazing vision, careful planning and construction have created Consall Hall Landscape Gardens, which includes six lakes, various follies, summer houses, packhorse bridges and much more. All these have been blended together to compose a series of living, growing pictures which change throughout the seasons and according to the weather. The result is a treasure trovefor garden enthusiasts, photographers, artists and families to enjoy and savour. The large pit banks remnants of the industrial era had to be removed before the planning of the garden could begin. The mammoth tasks involved the building of dams, and the construction of new ridges and roads. The result was tocreate the spectacular vistas you can see today. Habitats were developed by adding a huge variety of plants, shrubs and trees to encourage all forms of wildlife into the gardens. This approach continues today particularly in the conservation areas of the gardens, where banks of wild flowers flourish along with formal planting. Further information regarding the history and development of the gardens can be found in the book written by William Podmore on sale at the gardens gift shop together with many other mementos of the gardens. The present gardens were designed and created by William Podmore OBE.
