Located in Astoria, this former jail has now become the Oregon Film Museum, dedicated to movies made in the state of Oregon. You’ll find costumes and memorabilia from The Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Free Willy, Twilight, Sometimes a Great Notion, and National Lampoon’s Animal House.

This fun museum, housed in the old Clatsop County Jail featured in the movie The Goonies, is filled with the history, mystery and fun facts about many of the hundreds of films shot in Oregon. Don't forget to take a mugshot to remember the experience by on the way out.

Did you know that more than 300 major moves have been filmed in the State of Oregon! To name a few, “Are we there yet“, “The Goonies“, “Free Willy“, “Into the Wild“, “Wild“, and so many more! This museum invites visitors to learn about the production behind making movies by being the star in their own film. The museum is located in a historical building that was once an actual working jail. It was also in a scene from the Goonies!

The opening scene of The Goonies was shot right here! Now the Oregon Film Museum, it’s a must-see for families and film buffs, alike. Here you can learn about every movie filmed in the area and get tips on other filming locations in town, like the school from Kindergarten Cop!
