Busy place where many local shopping stalls placed. Many culinary spots too.
Actually from the Tugu a couple of kilometers north, this road (more a boulevard) is like the entry to the Kraton (the Royal Palace). It has been renovated recently with wider walk ways. On one side of the street browse through the many stalls that sell all kind of souvenir and handicraft stuff. It is very crowded on that side of the street, be aware of pickpockets. Always negotiate here. You can take a ride with a bicycle taxi or a Andong (horse and carriage). Talk about the price before you start off. In the night the stalls disappear and are replaced by food hawkers, and bamboo mats are rolled out on the side walk in front of the stores. People hang out, eat something and socialize in this way. A vibrant street day and night and a real experience - make a selfie under the street sign!
