Cheung Sha Beach is a secluded stretch of soft white sand that stretches on unto the horizon. It is the perfect Hong Kong beach to escape the hustle of the city. The water is clean, and even on weekends you will be able to find your own patch of solitude away from the restaurants and changing rooms. A unique sight some people are able to enjoy is a herd of water buffalo who like to cool themselves in the gentle waves on Cheung Sha Beach. Nearby Oui O Beach has a range of accommodation if you plan to stay overnight. Get to Cheung Sha Beach from Hong Kong by taking the ferry from Central Pier 6 to Mui Mo, then bus number 1. The whole journey should take 1 hour 30 minutes.

There are a number of restos on Lower Cheung Sha beach. There is also a small grocery shop that carries the essentials. The fastest way to get there is to walk east along South Lantau Rd. Cross the road and take the the lane in front of the fire station, taking the left fork, then another left onto the first path leading left (toward the water). This is for confident navigators! The less-fast-pleasant-and-fool-proof way is to go to the beach and then walk left/east facing the Chi Ma Wan cliff across the water. At the end of the beach, look inland about 30m for a concrete path that takes you up over to Lower Cheung Sha beach. Restos etc are in the middle of the beach.

The best beach of Lantau. A bit more quiet than the HK Island beaches. Great restaurants/bars over there too. Especially good after a hike (Sunset peak).

Perfect for an afternoon at the beach, would recommend Long Island restaurant to eat - Order the Rendang Curry. Go rent a kayak or a stand up and paddle out for an hour or two!
