One of the finest and oldest abbeys in Europe, yet little known. It was already 300 years old when Charlemagne visited in the year 800. The church is free but to really see the place do the guided tour (fee) in Italian. Just so you start with the guide you can lag behind and enjoy everything.

Situated in a picturesque village, the Abbey dates from the 5th century and was the epicentre of the whole area of the Sabina in the Middle Ages. Absolutely worth a visit.
