Unless you live there, it is not possible to visit the establishment. On the other hand, the gardens are accessible to non-resident guests who have booked in one of the bars or restaurants. Visit of the Mamounia gardens Unique in their kind, the Mamounia Gardens are as famous as they are legendary and offer an incredible panorama in which unfold 8 hectares of triumphant nature lulled by the singing of birds. A foreground towards the horizon, the roofs of the Medina, the Koutoubia and the Atlas in the distance. Bounded by the walls of the 12th century, the park is punctuated by hundreds of olive trees, some of which are over 700 years old. Bougainvillea, cactus, delphiniums, jacarandas, orange trees, palm trees, roses and lemon trees are all present in a play of shadows and light, wild groves and well-arranged tree paths. Order reigns in a wild setting where prickly pears straddle the periwinkles of Madagascar in a cheerful visual cacophony. Only the Seasonal flowers disrupt this physiognomy where man becomes the conductor of a nature that offers an incomparable festival of scents and colors.”

Far from the bustle of the centre, it is a peaceful oasis with tropical scents, adorned with beautiful colors. This exotic paradisiacal garden, created by the painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s brings together on nearly one hectare more than 300 species of plants, flowers and rare species from five continents. At its heart is an Art Deco Moorish villa designed by architect Paul Sinoir. Bright blue inspired by the waters of the Atlas, which now bears the name of Majorelle Blue, recognizable among all. During their first stay in Marrakech in the 1960s, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé fell in love with the Majorelle garden, which they acquired in 1980 when a hotel was supposed to replace it. They decide to live in the villa and undertake renovations of the garden. Give priority to an early morning visit (the Garden opens at 8am), as it is a very popular site…

The construction of the Kutubia Mosque began in 1141 at the request of the Almohad caliph Abd al-Mumin, and attracted particular attention for the height of its minaret and its pink sandstone colour, typical of the city. Its name, which means in French «mosque of booksellers», comes from the many book stalls that surrounded the monument after its completion. The minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque is 69 metres high; This is the highest view of all of Marrakech. This impressive religious building is 90 metres long and 60 metres wide. As with other mosques in the city, the entrance is reserved for Muslims.

La Maison de la Photographie (next to the Medersa Ben Youssef) – One of my favorite places in the Medina Photographs, glass plates, postcards… the photographs exhibited at the Maison de la Photographie provide a complete overview of the history of photography in Morocco from 1862 to 1950. The ensemble illustrates in a chronological and thematic way the history, the culture, the ethnology, the daily life, the people of Morocco. The fund comprises more than 15,000 original pictures. At the end of the visit, you can reach the terrace which offers a magnificent view of the rooftop. You also can drink delicious fresh juice or tea, black and white. The Secret Garden is a small haven of peace that contrasts with the perpetual external rumor. The building consists of two gardens, the Islamic garden and the exotic garden, and one of the highest towers in the Medina. Ideal for enjoying one of the most beautiful 360° views of Marrakech.

Built in Marrakech in 1910, the spectacular Dar el Bacha Palace was a meeting place for great minds. It was here that the intellectuals, cultural actors and eminent politicians of the century gathered for a Moka coffee, the famous Arabica coffee. Nearly 60 years after closing its doors, the Dar El Bacha reopened its doors in 2019 thanks to the incredible renovation work undertaken by the National Museums Foundation. One of the courtyards is home to Bacha coffee, a refined place where you can enjoy one of the 200 à la carte coffees, served hot or iced, accompanied by whipped cream or frothy milk. Serve with one of the delicious pastries on offer. Note, to access the Bacha Coffee, it is mandatory to pay the entrance to the museum, open every day from 9.30 am to 7 pm, 50 dh.
