Small Bar

This is the new way to experience Fremantle's heritage in an intimate cafe. A small corner bar built into the ground floor of one of the Warders Cotteges. Step back in time to recall a classic little gin and apertivo bar. On the door step of Freo's famous markets. Start your day off with a fresh, delicious breakfast from our kitchen before exploring the city or enjoy the parisian atmosphere in the heritage surrounds for pre dinner drinks. The Warders’ Cottages were built in 1851. The history of the site is scattered around the site on plaques and historic signage. More information about Fremantle’s Prison History can be found at the Fremantle Prison Museum. Darling Darling is Fremantle's famous pirate bar. There's a speakeasy feel as you approach the entrance on Henry Street in the heart of Fremantle's West End neighbourhood. An almost hidden entrance adds to the intrigue of this venue designed by world renowned bar designer Ashley Sutton. Entering Darling Darling is like going below the decks of an 19th century pirate ship. It's a haven for seafarers serving libations from 4 pm weekdays and noon Friday to Sunday. Bar snacks are an unlimited supply of peanuts with shells discarded on the floor. A resident fiddler on Sunday's adds to the atmosphere. Walkins only.

The Fremantle Roundhouse is the oldest public building in the state of Western Australia. Opened in January 1831, it was built to hold any person convicted of a crime in the settlement until 1886. Since then it’s been a Police Lock up, accommodation for the Water Police, and a storage facility for the Fremantle Ports. Today it’s a popular historical tourist attraction, with sweeping views over the city, Fishing Boat Harbour and the Indian Ocean. The Fremantle Roundhouse is open between 10.30am and 3.30pm every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday. The ‘Fremantle Volunteer Heritage Guides’ office is also manned every week day between 10am and 3.30pm. The cannon is fired daily at 1pm. If you attend you may even be able to trigger the shot!

Kenny McHardy has serious credentials. His career includes stints at London’s two-Michelin-star mainstay Petrus, Walter’s Wine bar in Melbourne and Due South in Albany. With Manuka Woodfire Kitchen, his first solo venture, the Kiwi is literally playing with fire. McHardy works his tiny kitchen alone, using the wood-fired oven for everything from bread and pizza to vegetables and meat. Away from the oven he’s fermenting more than just his bread dough – vegetables bolster the pantry stocks. The menu consists of just a few dishes each day because McHardy’s approach is to mine the seasonal possibilities of Western Australia by creating relationships with producers, whether they’re growers, or makers of wine, cider and beer.

Brewery

Gage Roads is the strip of ocean that separates Rottnest Island and Fremantle in Western Australia. It’s a home to surfers and swimmers; seagulls and sharks; ships and sailors. It’s a place where you can relax, escape, explore and seek out adventure. Gage Roads Brewery has recently opened in the converted A Shed on Victoria Quay.
WA’s biggest brewer has turned the historic A Shed at Victoria Quay into Gage Roads Freo, a brewery, restaurant, bar and family-friendly venue. This is a great place to enjoy a drink or two whilst watching the sun go down on Fremantle and the Indian Ocean

There are many places to hire traditional and e-bikes - in fact there is a bike hire shop a few metres away on Point Street
