Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Kumonosou（Early Summer Limited: Firefly Tour Free）

​This authentic wooden farmhouse in Kyoto’s Miyama Village preserves its original heritage with massive timber beams and traditional charm. It features a full kitchen, tatami rooms, a wood stove with an oven, and a sunken kotatsu. ​Stay late May–June for free firefly tours, or summer for river-play tips! Enjoy BBQ, foraging, and creek walks. Public transport is limited, so we offer free shuttle service from Hiyoshi or Sonobe Station to ensure a seamless rural getaway.
