Grandma’s House is exactly what the name implies—a modest, older Japanese home filled with the kind of character that makes you feel rooted in history and community. The house’s architecture reflects a traditional Japanese layout, complete with sliding doors, tatami mat flooring, low ceilings, and thoughtful minimalism that gives the space a calming, peaceful energy. That said, taller guests should take note—if you’re over 5’6” (about 167 cm), be prepared to duck a bit. The ceilings and doorways are low in some parts of the house, which adds to the cozy, nostalgic feel but might be a bit tricky if you’re not used to it. For us, it was more charming than inconvenient. It reminded us that this was someone’s beloved home for decades, and that sense of warmth lives on in the space.

Casa muito bonita e limpa, com excelente vista da montanha. Chuveiros ótimos. O dono opera uma cafeteria no primeiro andar, o que é muito conveniente no café da manhã. Takao san deu ótimas sugestões de passeios locais e ficou muito feliz em receber nossa família, inclusive nosso cachorro!

Very lovely host, and very well equipped little house. The internal stairs are tight and steep, so maybe not for folks who might struggle with that, but don’t be put off. Great location in the centre of the action (the railway was not noisy btw).

The house has more amenities than expected. Everything you need is there. The hot spring is very good. Everyone in the family loves it. There are massage chairs to help you relax. The kitchen is fully equipped. Playing the piano with a view of the cherry blossoms is very good. There are also small games for us. Even though the house is a bit old, everything is okay. The owner pays attention to details very well. There are charging cables provided. If I have a chance, I would like to stay again.

犬二匹とともに宿泊させていただきました。非常に清潔で快適なお部屋でした。チェックインが完全オンラインでチェックアウトまで全く人に会わずに済ませられたため、人見知りの犬たちにもストレスなく滞在が楽しめたのもとてもありがたかったです。

The view here is breathtaking. If you're looking to get away from the crowds this is the perfect place! My son and I stayed here, we walked the shoreline and found beach glass, shells, driftwood, and bamboo, we loved it so much. The house is so comfortable and large. We had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a large tub with a big window overlooking the bay, it was so relaxing. We cracked the sliding door to hear the waves at night, it was the best. The hosts are amazing people, so kind and thoughtful, they had breakfast food in the refrigerator for us and juice & milk. We ate at a tonkatsu place down the road that was great! If you have a chance to stay here, book it! There are also two ponies on the property that are adorable. We had such a wonderful stay here, thank you for letting us spend the night in your beautiful place.💜🌊 Oh, and the night view of the city across the bay is SO BEAUTIFUL!
