Right on the beach and hugely popular, the Bucket List is a bit Saint Tropez right on Bondi. Get a jug of Pimms and a bucket of prawns and get down to some serious people watching.

Upmarket restaurant right on the beach at Bondi. Walk from Bondi to Bronte, it's only a short coastal walk (very crowded and touristy, but beautiful). And finish with lunch or dinner at the famous and trendy Icebergs. There is also a cheaper casual restaurant downstairs.

Parks & Nature

A beautiful recreation area in the middle of Sydney’s densely populated eastern suburbs. It is also home to diverse flora and fauna and many significant tree plantings, including spectacular Port Jackson figs, Holm oaks and Norfolk Island pines dating back to the early 20th century. Today Centennial Park is a playground for adults and children of all ages and is one of the few inner city parks in the world to offer horse riding facilities.

Especially if you need to beat jet lag, I recommend a walking tour for your first day to be out in the sun: walk down Surry Hill's main Crown St window-shopping the funky boutiques, cross through Hyde Park with the ANZAC memorial, Archibald Fountain and St Mary's Cathedral, and cross into the beautiful Botanic Gardens to ultimately enjoy an iconic view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. You can finish with a drink at Opera Bar or the Museum of Contemporary Art.

MUST DO!! Go to a concert (there are all genres), a play or the Opera. If that's not your bag, focus on the building. Take a tour and then enjoy the ambience at one of the outdoor restaurants and bars on the Concourse. At night and on weekend afternoons there's live music and the joint gets jumpin'. Its also a big cocktail scene for the after work crowd. Insider hint: Visitors with an interest in the performing arts will get a kick out of a Backstage Tour. Seeing behind the scenes is a special thing. If there's a rehearsal in progress you are allowed to watch.
