Food Scene

It's the latest hotspot in town for having lunch/dinner. It's a indoor street-food market, kind of thing. It's market meets mall. There are different sort of stalls with ethnic food (from Indian to Italian to Mexican to Korean... Burgers, oysters, and of course all sort of drinks. A LOT of people go there everyday. Sometimes they have live music or deejays. Highly recommended to grab a bite without having to spend a lot of money and if weather is not very nice.

Here you can have lunch or dinner. During spring & summer the view from the terrace outside is FANTASTIC! It looks over 2 joining canals.

This is a simple Ethiopian restaurant. I like it because you can eat spicy food on a delicious spongy bread with your hands and drink fruit beer (banana or mango) - good price ;-)

I love this coffee place! There is a relaxed atmosphere, a great terrace when the sun shines and free wifi. Sandwiches and tea's are to die for, healthy and delicious. You can get infused water for free from the dispenser anytime you like (mint or fruit) - great people and great location.

Arts & Culture

If you are interested in history and don't want to queue outside other popular museums, this is the BEST museum you can visit. It displays the whole period of the nazi occupation in the Netherlands and how the Dutch Resistance (verzets) tried to fight against the Nazi's, saving a lot of lives of Jewish people. I love this museum because it's interactive, interesting, you get an audio tour included in the price (various languages) and it tells you not only sad stories about the war but also uplifting ones.

Shopping

This street is only 10 mins walk from the B&B - you can find plenty of shops, from clothes to kitchenware, from gifts to furniture and plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. It's also nice for a walk. It's not as crowded as the streets of the historical centre: it's a pleasure just to walk.

Parks & Nature

This park is just opposite the house. I love this park to jog or walk. If you walk all the way towards south you just turn left at the end and after 5 mins walk you end up in the other park, more famous and crowded, where all Dutch people love having picnics and spending time to relax during sunny and warm days.

Sightseeing

Here you find a little windmill village where you can visit each of them and see how they work - you can also visit the museum or the shop where you can see how they make wooden shoes and cheese. It's only 30 mins to get there and is really picturesque. Quite touristic, but totally worth it.
