Historic 1935 five-story cafeteria downtown with whacky decor including stuffed antelope, bears and mountain lions. Totally renovated in 2015. The food is inconsistent, but you can walk right in past the line at the door, wander around to gaze at the giant redwood tree and the waterfall, and have a cocktail or a beer at one of the many bars. Be sure to explore all of the nooks and crannies.

Drinks & Nightlife

Not local, but a GORGEOUS basement speakeasy with great atmosphere, silent movies projected on the walls, and live shows. It used to be a 1920s power plant, and there's still a bunch of old machinery scattered around. Happy hour 5-7 Wednesday-Friday. Visit their website, edisondowntown.com.
