100 years ago, The Locks and Ship Canal were built by Seattle and the Corps of Engineers as a commercial navigation route to develop the City of Seattle. Today the Hiram M. Chittenden (aka Ballard) Locks are the Nation's busiest with nearly 50,000 vessels/yr. "locking through". Boats 'lock thru' 24 hours/day, except during maintenance. In addition, there are significant salmon migrations through the Locks that, in a good year, total over 500,000 salmon.

The first Neopolitan pizza was made in Naples, Italy in the early 1600’s. Then, in 1889, culinary chef Raffaele Esposito, served King Umberto I and his wife Queen Margherita their first pizza to welcome them to Naples. Deeming the traditional garlic topping to be unfit for the royal palate, Esposito instead used a combination of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil to emulate the colors of the Italian Flag. His pizza became known as the Margherita pizza, named after Queen Margherita, and it quickly became the most famous pizza in the world.

The Seattle mover and shaker biz pro set crowd into The Triple Door after work to nosh on some appetizers, sip some delicious cocktails and schmooze with like minded individuals. Even though a well-heeled set frequents this Seattle jazz club, there's very little in the way of attitude or pretentiousness, just the satisfied longing for a more mature club to congregate in. The live jazz music at The Triple Door happens later in the evening in the lounge, but these world-class sounds are piped into the bar area that only charges and occasional cover.

Neighbors, whether you're gay or straight, is a Seattle dance club mainstay that always gets packed with revelers on the weekends for the choice DJs spinning high-energy dance tracks. There's rarely an attitude at Neighbours, everyone from the staff to the patrons are just out to have a good time to which goal this Seattle dance club consistently contributes—seriously, it's been around forever, serves dangerous cocktails and while many other Seattle gay bars and dance clubs have come and gone, Neighbours is still surviving and is still the place to be with the attitude of sexual orientation be damned.
