Parks & Nature

Piestewa Peak represents some of the best hiking Phoenix has to offer. The trail is steep but well-maintained and the summit provides you with views of the entire city. If you aren't up for a summit hike, try the circumference trail, which treks through the numerous cacti and the occasional lizard, quail or roadrunner. But if you go on a weekend, get there early, because this park gets busy fast.

Arts & Culture

The Heard Museum is the best place to learn about the multiplet tribes that make up Arizona's diverse native american culture. The exhibits are stunning and feature native artwork, clothing, pottery, and much more. The Museum also has exhibits specifically for children, making this a great family activity. But don't miss the Gift Shop - it is home to the best selection of books regarding native american history and culture, as well as gorgeous (and authentic) native american jewelry and art.
