Located in Amsterdam West, the Westerpark is a wonderful place to walk, skate, relax or have a picnic with friends. This green expanse dotted with trees and ponds is part of the Westergasfabriek complex, a former gasworks that was completely renovated in recent years. Besides the park, this area is home to a nice selection of cafés, restaurants, and bars, as well as an art-house cinema and a variety of small creative businesses

Drinks & Nightlife

Pacific Park is a place in Westerpark, that is very hard to describe. They call themselves a rock'n'roll bar and dance bistro. But on sunny days they also have the biggest terrace in the Westerpark. And.. it's also a place where you can go for proper partying till late.

To get in to De Nieuwe Anita you have to ring the door bell. That might seem strange for a bar, but when you get in, it will all make sense. The place is divided in two parts. The front is basically a living room (flower curtains, furniture and retro lamps) with a bar in the middle. The back is used all sorts of performances (and heavy dancing). De Nieuwe Anita is hosting a lot of different events, parties, contests and expositions. Check the website for the agenda.

A bar in a mill. Brouwerij Het IJ is already quite popular among tourists. But that doesn't mean locals don't come here. In 1985 a Dutch man thought is was time to provide the people of Amsterdam with special beers, just like the Belgians do for their people. All the beers are still made in the two breweries in this street. Open from 15:00 till 20:00!

City beach, market and event hall and bar in one, perfectly encapsulates the spirit of cool Amsterdam East. The sandy waterside setting encourages punters to get their toes out in summer, and this is combined with a huge hall used for markets, film screenings and other (often child-friendly) events. The hall also adds some industrial charm to the city beach idyll. Roest’s café and bar offers a wide selection of drinks and snacks, so no beach bum has to go hungry.

Without a doubt the most phenomenal view of/on the city. Even from the ground floor. Built with old sea containers (and a lot of love), Pllek's main mission is to keep on surprising their customers. That goes for both their food and their events. Great plus: artificial 'beach'!

Fier Amsterdam is a relaxed eetcafe with a good beer selection and tasty Belgian inspired menu. For dinner you’ll find rotisserie chicken, crispy fries, burgers from the Big Green Egg, and even traditional stew made from horse meat. Of course there are also salads, but we say go for the chicken and a side of fries with one of their homemade sauces. Fier also serves brunch and lunch. Try the omelette, eggs benedict or go for pancakes. It has a nice and crowded terraze

To enter Happyhappyjoyjoy is a lot like opening a door to a different universe. The warm, red light creates a welcoming and magical atmosphere. This hotspot of the famous (TV)cook Julius Jaspers is a place where you can get Asian street food, all day long. No big portions, but small bites so you can taste as many different dishes as you like and it’s easy to share. It is always crowded, go early or book in advance

One of our favorite pizzerias in Amsterdam, Fuoco Vivo uses natural sourdough yeast to make their dough and many of their ingredients are organic. The menu is simple with just a selection of pizzas, three antipasti options, and three dessert options.
