Their pastries are to die for! Go early for the best selection. I recommend the cheese croissant... their quiche is phenomenal too! Check their hours, they have limited hours.

Agree with the theme or not. Who knows sandwiches better than stoners? These guys make really delicious, creative sandwhichs and snacks - and always have a good selection of craft beer on tap.

Drinks & Nightlife

Casey's is the neighborhood bar. If you want to meet local characters, or just watch them in action - this is the spot. This bar always has a great mix of all different kinds of people. They also have great food too!

If you're a booze snob - this is your spot! This is easily my favorite bar in town, simply because they always have the most interesting beers on tap... if you don't see what you want on tap - walk to the back of the bar... they have a huge selection of bottles! Also - if you're in the mood to bring something home, it's attached to Top's liquor store - which is a wonderland of craft beer, wine and liquor or all kinds. You'll think you died and went to lush heaven!

This is the best bar on Mill Ave, for folks who want a night out on Mill, but aren't into clubs or college bars. They usually have great live music on the weekends, the food is the normal Irish / British pub fare - but it quite good, and it's a nice big bar with a great outdoor area... so it's good for groups.

This place is tucked into the neighborhood, only a stones throw from my house. It has great bar food, and a really awesome atmosphere. It's a huge place, so there is plenty of room if you're in a group. It's a good place to stop if you're on your way to or from an event at Tempe Town Lake - because it's essentially right across the light rail tracks.

There is a show here almost every night - and it's usually a big act! It's very close to the house - so take an uber, or the light rail... don't try to park there... it's a pain.

Sightseeing

Walk out into the cul-de-sac and look toward Mill Ave... see that land-lump poking out above all the buildings? That's A-Mountain. If you're in the mood for a short, but strenuous hike - walk on over and head on up. You'll a little exercise, and a great view of the town!

Parks & Nature

One of the most iconic activities in Tempe. Only a short bike or car ride from the house. It offers gorgeous views, especially at sunrise and sunset of Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. The walk up is very easy, and takes less than 10 minutes. Don't be surprised if it gets crowded around sunset.

Not your typical botanical garden, this is really a unique and worthwhile experience. You will be blown away by the variety of plants, especially during spring - when the wildflowers are blooming. The garden is also home to a really wonderful, albeit very expensive restaurant... perfect for a romantic sunset dinner. They also host a lot of events during the spring and winter... live music, ballets, etc. Look on livingsocial and groupon - there are almost always discounts on tickets!

Arts & Culture

Not exactly in the neighborhood, but it is very easily reached via lightrail! This is by far the most fascinating museum in the area. It primarily covers the history and culture of local tribes, but has some information about the indigenous people of the world. This museum has an expansive collection, and a really wonderful gift shop - I would recommend dedicating the better part of a day to give yourself plenty of time. If you get there later in the day - you will be disappointed. Also - they frequently have really excellent cultural events here, so check their calendar for the best time to go!

Essentials

Don't let the size of this place fool you. They are stocked with mostly local products like fresh produce, eggs, meat, cheese, baked goods, spices, grains, etc. They have pretty much everything you'd need, and they serve great coffee, snacks and sandwiches! Also they're usually open until 11pm!

Really cool little import store. It's family owned, and all goods are fair trade. Definitely worth checking out. But don't forget - cash only!
