In their second location (check out the original in Wicker Park), the Furious Spoon is some of the closest Japanese noodles you'll get outside Japan. Complex broth, perfectly cooked noodles and an authentic selection of add-ins (molten egg, anyone?) it's a great introduction to udon.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Au Cheval (nationally recognized, award winning burgers) is their parent restaurant out in West Loop. While you won't be able to get much beyond a cheeseburger with the standard toppings, I can almost guarantee this is the best cheeseburger you'll eat in Chicago. Not a bad selection of beer on tap, a few spirits and specialty drinks--all at a good price. This is a place to regret missing.

[Cash Only] All old-school arcade games and pinball--this is a bar that's hard to pass up! Decent selection of beer and cocktails, it's well worth checking out. We love it for those nights we want to be a little more low-key, but don't want to stay in.

A fairly new club, Annex has already been recognized as one of the great up-and-coming clubs booking some of the best talent. It's a huge space that gradually opens as the night progresses and more people flow in. Well-stocked bar and a cool atmosphere!

A local grocer, Fresh Market has all you could need for your basics. I love this place. They're always looking to improve and are incredibly customer oriented. Right on Western, it's easy to pop in on the walk home from the blue line (we generally shop by the day).

Taking after the High Line in NYC, our 606 trail is an old El track converted to an elevated public walking-park. Great for running/biking/walking (especially in the spring/summer/fall) and for unique views of West Town (it runs from Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square). The 606 (formally the "Bloomingdale Trail") boasts interesting sculpture installations and summer events. With multiple on/off points, you can take in as much or as little as you like--definitely worth checking out!
