This name recalls how the low-lying territory flanking the river, then outside the town of Pest, was filled with rubbish to raise the level of the ground. The first recorded name was Stadtischer Auswind Platz ("Unloading Square for the Ships") in 1820.

You can climb the hill from two sides: take the stairs by the waterfall (only operating in the summer) at Elizabeth Bridge, or take the gradual, but somewhat longer pathway by the Gellért Bath. The latter passes a playground known for its slides, which is popular with children (and some adults as well).

Chain Bridge was the first permanent bridge between Buda and Pest and also the first one across the Danube. Margaret Island is a 2.5 km long island in the middle of the Danube in central Budapest, Hungary. The island is mostly covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious centre. The island spans the area between the Margaret Bridge (south) and the Árpád Bridge (north). Before the 14th century the island was called Insula leporum (Island of Rabbits).
