Parks & Nature

Discovery park is a large wide open oasis of nature right in the neighborhood. Lots of great walking/hiking paths with a knowledgeable staff at the visitor center. Shuttles to the nearby, below the cliffs, lighthouse and beach access.

To get incredible views of downtown the waterfront and on clear days Mt. Rainier (my favorite Seattle site), take a short walk from our house to Ella Bailey. The kids will love the play area and open field and the adults will just stare at the view with mouth wide open.

Palisade has an amazing Sunday brunch (bring your wallet and an empty stomach) It also has great views of the Puget sound and is located within a yacht club so wandering the water front and looking at other people's boats is also fun. To get the location experience without the big price tag head to the lower restaurant, Maggie Bluff's. Driving to this location is a little tricky, so if you are up for a morning adventure, and you have figured out the tide charts for low tide, you can get there by foot via the secret beach. From our house go up and over the hill on Raye St. Take a left on 32nd Ave. Stay on 32nd Ave all the way until you run into water. Take a left on the rocky beach and you will eventually run into the marina. You may get wet!

If there is a sporting event you want to watch, stay at my place and watch on the big TV! or if you really want to be with other people head to the MVP and watch something on 2 to 20 tv's at a time. Food is decent and good beer selection. Kid friendly during the day.

Arts & Culture

Head to the space needle, spend too much money to ride and elevator, see amazing 360 degree views and then head down and actually spend some time at the EMP. The EMP is a fun interactive museum fully of pop culture and interesting northwest music scene exhibits. Go midweek so you can actually get time in the instruments room to practice your jam skills on guitars/bass/keyboards/drums.

Ballards locks is an interesting facility that is the gateway between fresh water of Lake Union and Lake Washington and the salt water of the puget sound. This facility is an easy stroll and fun place to watch boats.
