Ordered a serve of pork spring rolls and two small bowls of rare beef soup noodles. Excellent broth, delicious tender beef and good springies. Top selection of condiments (great chilli oil) and free cups of hot tea. Perfect easy mid week cheapie when you can't be stuffed cooking dinner.

What a crack up this place is - in a good way. Last night was our 3rd visit in a month. Loud, noisy, crowded and yummy food. It's like a free holiday to Asia! The food is good. Cooked quickly, fresh ingredients (last night the beans were being trimmed by a waitress in the restaurant!). Have the spring rolls - they come with dipping sauce and lettuce to wrap them up in. Lightly battered squid with salt and pepper sauce is delicious. Mongolian beef is good. Prawns also good. Can't wait to go back to try other items from the menu. BYO and there is a bottle shop a few doors up. This is a cheap and cheerful place. Don't expect fine dining. The owner is very entertaining to watch as she seats and serves her customers.

This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Pho is fantastic but you must try their salt and pepper squid. Nobody does it quite like Thanh Thanh. Chicken spare ribs are sooo crispy on the outside and juicy within. New on the specials menu is a spinach mushroom dish which is heavenly.

As one of my favourite Melbourne Cafes I can't believe I've neglected to write a review for LBSS until now! With a trendy fit out, friendly service and a killer unique menu you can't go wrong! I've tried many of their dishes in the past and have been impressed time and time again. Today I ordered the haloumi and silverbeet waffles with fried eggs, chorizo and pineapple salsa. Great combo of flavours and I was particularly happy with the generous chunks of haloumi in the waffles. I also had the golden latte with almond milk which was a nice change from my usual flat white.

Came here for my mums birthday and was so glad with the outcome. Was apprehensive about taking a non vegan family here but any doubts were dispelled when we walked in and were greeted so warmly by the owner. Everyone loved their meals (very reasonably priced) and my mum couldn't stop raving about hers. The drinks were tasty, especially the custard Apple smoothie and strawberry frappe. The raw cakes were great also, especially the strawberry, and mud cake.

The Vic is a small bar right near the North Richmond train station. They have lots of happy hours and deals on throughout the week. There is a free BBQ on Sundays and the staff are lovely. Two thumbs up!

Well worth it. Although I have enjoyed beer for many years it is great to learn something new about it. This is a very informative tour and the visuals are great. The sampling is and added bonus and really allows for a good comparison of the various brews. Don't miss this tour

Dont be fooled by the outside. Inside has been extensively renovated . I have eaten here a number of times . There is a great atmosphere and they serve great food and beer. i have discovered they do a steak or parma for $15 on Tuesday or Thursday. They are both good value for $15 and worth a visit .

Suitably hidden for Melbourne (glass door on the corner of Napier street next door to belle's chicken, along corridors, another door and up the stairs you go), and real old world feel to it. Ideally grab a booth at the back but anywhere is good. Fantastic cocktails and excellent wine. Brilliant service. You have to be impressed when upon returning from the bathroom you find your martini has been taken away to the freezer to stay cold. And what a martini it is.

Sightseeing

Hidden gem in Abbotsford, a great collection of venues from coffee and bakery to hidden bars on acres of grassed and gardened hills. If hunting for parking isn't your thing, park on the other side of the river and walk.. its a great adventure for the kids and a cold beer (or warm coffee) awaits. The venus contains some historic building in various states of repair (some 100%, some falling down). Great to bike ride to and next door is the Children's farm, which is worth a visit too.

A lovely spot to mellow out and enjoy some sunshine, fresh air and animal life. The coffee is good, and the cafe menu looked good, although we brought a picnic on the day we visited. I've eaten there years ago and enjoyed the meal. Current menu looked a bit pricey, given that it's a family venue, but it's also easy to throw in a few things of your own, and just supplement with treats as needed. We had some little kids in tow and they loved being able to hug guinea pigs and pat all sorts of other critters. Bring plenty of time with you - it's only a small venue, but it's nice to just relax and pretend you are in the country for the day.

A great way to get close to nature. You can start at the Parliament site and end up at the Pullman hotel and catch a tram back to Flinders Stration station. A wonderful couple of hours wandering through the gardens, especially nice in the Autumn when the leaves are turning yellow. The trees are tall and majestic, there are little areas to sit and relax, little ponds scattered throughout.

Entertainment & Activities

Came across the Mystery Rooms while walking around in Fitzroy and was intrigued by the graffiti and funky reception area. Ended up booking in with some friends on a whim for a night out and it was the best choice I've made in a while. The staff were so lovely and friendly, and our room guide Bunnie, was absolutely amazing. The puzzles in the room were challenging and such a good mix and my friends and I loved every second of it.

I love this venue so when I found out that they have film showings here I was in. Friendly staff, relaxed venue, remember to try lentils are everything (watch out for the long queue) before joining the crowd for the film, although the venue often had food too. The experience is made even better by seeing the huge flock of bats which fly overhead as the sun goes down. Don't forget to give the table tennis tables a go before the film starts. Quick tip: bring blankets to keep warm as the temperature drops after the sun goes down.

Being AFL followers have been to this sports arena on many occasions and it never fails to impress. Last weekend we went to see a game between two teams other than the one we normally follow so were able to enjoy the atmosphere without worrying about the final outcome. The crowd was great and the game was fantastic. Would recommend as a must visit to sport enthusiasts.

Shopping

I just love Bridge Road, Richmond. Take a stroll from the City of Melbourne up along Flinders Street. Now it appears to me that as you pass over Punt Road you have a great selection of restaurants and clothing shops. As you move east away from the City and over Church Street, Bridge Road widens making a beautiful spectre. There are numerous restaurants on the right overlooked on the left by the Richmond Town Hall. There is a lovely walk along down to the winding Yarra River where there is much to explore. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Bridge Road whilst you are in Melbourne.

Victoria gardens is personally my favourite shopping Centre! Unlike northland it is not so big that you get lost and can't find your way around. And unlike northcote plaza it actually has useful shops. Victoria gardens has lots of clothes shops for example cotton on, kmart, tempt, jeans west etc it also has a very big food court and food for all your fussy family members. It has a cinema which always comes in handy when you have nothing to do. One of my favourite things about Victoria gardens is of course ikea, what would you do with out ikea oh yeah NOTHING!! The ikea in vic gardens is very big and it has a childcare program where you just say "take my kids while I shop at ikea" and then POOF kid free.
