Jerry's is also my go to sports bar to watch the rugby, football or cricket.

If you arrive later, like we normally do, you may need to wait for a table, but this is almost part of the vibe as you have a flat white at the coffee bar. I've never been disappointed with anything off the menu, but the avo smash and eggs benedict stand out.

In a sea of options for pizzas, this is our first choice - every time! It also happens to be just down the road. Their thin based pizzas are the best in the hood, whether you eat in the traditional trattoria feeling restaurant or get a takeaway for the beach or to bring home.

This place is all about sunsets, rather than late night revelry, so give yourself plenty of time to soak in the golden light. You can give the restaurant next door a miss, there are much better options around, but the (pricey) breakfast brunch in the hotel courtyard is legendary, plentiful and served how every day should start - with bubbles (MCC) and jazz.

Shopping
The Piazza St Johns shopping centre is a short walk from the apartment and has a good grocery store (Woolworths), as well as a few great cafes for a quick bite or take-out. To get to St Johns Piazza, walk down the hill from the flat and turn left into High Level Road. Then after about 2 blocks, turn right into Arthurs Road. Walk all the way down to Main Road and you will see the centre on your left.

Awesome little fishing village to wander around. Be sure to have a drink at the Brass Bell - its an institution in Cape Town. Food is a little greasy but its the closest you can get to the sea in Cape Town. Harbour House is also a great restaurant with a magnificent setting and a bit smarter.

You will also see the cell where Nelson Mandela spent so many years of his life. The boat trip to the Island is also an experience in itself with fantastic views of Cape Town from sea, and if you are lucky you could sea some sea life en route.
