Surrounded by water on three sides and with strong breezes from the Irish Sea, Wirral is a haven for "Windcatchers" and there is no more perfect place than West Kirby Marine Lake. Set on the very tip of the Peninsula with stunning views of the Welsh Hills and the Dee Estuary, this man-made saltwater lake is fast becoming a top tourist destination. It is 52 acres in size, 5 foot deep and totally enclosed, making it an exceptionally safe facility. The Lake is home to the Wirral Sailing School, which offers courses in sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, making it the ideal place to indulge your adventurous side. The less energetic can also enjoy West Kirby’s Marine Lake by taking a leisurely stroll around the border of the lake or along the stretch of beach from West Kirby to Red Rocks at Hoylake.
