La Piramide Cestia è un monumento dedicato a Caio Cestio Epulone, morto probabilmente nel 12 a.C.. L’opera mostra quale fosse il fascino che l’Egitto esercitava sulle classi aristocratiche di Roma dopo la conquista del 30 a.C.! The Pyramid was built to honour the death of Caius Cestius, Praetor of Rome (magistrate), who died at a time unknown between 18 and 12 BC. La pyramide de Caio Cestio a été construite à l’occasion de la mort du célèbre préteur de Rome Caius Cestius probablement en l’an 12 avant JC. Ce monument montre combien était apprécié à l’époque le « style égyptien » après la conquête du pays des pharaons par Rome en l’an 30 avant JC!

Next door to the Pyramid, this fine gate in the Aurelian Wall is named after St. Paul as the Via Ostiense leads to the basilica of St. Paul's Outside the Walls. This is a small museum housed inside Porta San Paolo, which records the importance to Rome of the road that connected it to the harbour at Ostia. There are models of old Ostia and Trajan's harbour. This is an ancient pyramid in the middle of Rome, near the Porta San Paolo. Near there is also the great Art Deco building Palazzo delle poste Via Marmorata and the Fire Station built in 1929...
