Good happy hour specials for craft cocktails. Fascinating artwork hanging in here by Charlie Hoffacker, a homicide detective with the New Orleans Police Department - a mosaic made from 14,000 bullet casings. Nice back patio.

Parks & Nature

City Park offers so much including but not limited to: NOMA, Sculpture Garden, Botanical Garden, Storyland, Morning Call (beignets, coffee & live music), musical playgrounds for kids with xylophones and drums. There's a secret spot that's new post-Katrina if you're looking for a nice hike.

5 miles from my house in Uptown New Orleans, Audubon is not as large as City Park but absolutely worth the visit. Bordered on one side by the Mississippi River and on the other by St. Charles Avenue, directly across from Tulane University and Loyola University.

Arts & Culture

For a self-guided tour https://acloserwalknola.com/ Music has always been integral to daily life in New Orleans, and its landmarks can blend into its neighborhoods. The history of the city’s music, and its outsized influence in popular music everywhere, can be traced to creole cottages, parlors, churches, and street corners as well as concert halls and auditoriums. Some are still active; others have been transformed or demolished. A Closer Walk highlights and contextualizes these sites, to advocate for their future, to celebrate their memory, and to honor the men and women who have shared their music with us.

Bike down the Lafitte Greenway from Mid-City to Treme

Pick up a Blue Bike from Carrollton & Canal or Banks & South Alexander, head down the street till you run into the Lafitte Greenway. The Greenway extends from the intersection of North Alexander and St. Louis streets in Mid-City to Basin Street and St. Louis Street in Tremé, blocks from the French Quarter. The Greenway includes a 12-foot asphalt path for cyclists and pedestrians, new recreation fields, basketball courts, outdoor fitness parks, green space, and landscaping improvements including approximately 500 shade trees, native plant meadows, bioswales and stormwater retention features. The path is fully lit with LED energy-efficient trail lighting, includes curb extensions, signalized high visibility crosswalks & more.
1924 Spanish Colonial style warehouse and an attached circa-1940 seafood processing factory sat blighted and vacant for nearly 10 years. Today it has been renovated into a 4-screen movie theater. The project has been “revitalizing to the Mid-City and Treme neighborhoods. *Bonus - this cinema has a bar.
