Bohemeos is a coffee bar and cafe during the day, and a live music venue at night. The lobby doubles as an art gallery and the exhibits change monthly. All their coffees are hand ground and brewed via slow-drip. It’s the best coffee place on the east side, and a great place for business meetings, brunch, or a quiet solo place to work away from the office. Sit outside on the patio and listen to their water fountain; it’s really peaceful!

Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

Houston is best traveled by cars

Houston has some public transportation, but unless you’re going downtown or the medical center, it’s not really efficient for city-wide travel. Texas is an oil state and because of that all major Texas cities still rely on vehicles for main transportation. Plan on renting a car or taking Ubers/Lift/taxis if you want to get around the city efficiently.

Houston weather is unpredictable

It can be 50 degrees in the morning, 90 degrees in the afternoon and 70 degrees by evening with a thunderstorm and high winds on the horizon. You really never know what Houston weather will throw at you, so dress in layers and pack some comfortable shoes.

Everything is bigger in Texas…including the BUGS!

Houston is hot and humid almost year round and built on top of a swamp. Because of that environment, it is a haven for insects and native wildlife. We have palmetto bugs (also called water bugs or tree roaches), walking sticks and centipedes that can grow up to 3” long! Mosquito season is year round, Feb-May is Love Bug season and May-July is June Bug season. Don’t worry, they live OUTSIDE but they can occasionally find themselves on a screen porch (or even indoors) if you leave a door open. It’s just part of living in a swampy environment. Welcome to Houston! LOL!
