Mi Chaparrita, is close to Sayulita and you can repel through the jungle. Very popular.
Until the freeway is complete this is about a 2.5 hr trip each way. It was voted the best Botanical gardens in the US and Mexico. Fantastic restaurant. For a whole day trip, this is a great spot. The restaurant has a very Nice view of the river below. Robert Price, the curator, started the Botanical Gardens 20 years ago. It is one of the most popular destinations in thePuerto Vallarta area. If you love orchids you will not be disappointed.

For a whole day trip, this is a great spot. The restaurant has a very Nice view of the river below. Robert Price, the curator, started the Botanical Gardens 20 years ago. Located about 15 miles southwest of Puerto Vallarta and secluded in a remote cove between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre mountains, Yelapa is an ideal getaway for any intrepid adventurer exploring the state of Jalisco. Its remote location makes it extremely popular among travelers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta, and its picturesque jungle landscapes and cascading waterfalls make it a hit among hikers.
If you happen to be anywhere in the region, this stunning locale is not to be missed.
Yelapa is truly a sight to behold. It’s replete with towering trees and tropical flowering plants, and it comprises a tropical dry broadleaf forest with a rainy season that lasts almost half the year. In addition to boasting one of Mexico’s most beautiful and easily accessible waterfalls, it’s also a great place to get up close and personal with a wide range of tropical wildlife like iguanas, land crabs, and wild parrots.
Unless you’re prepared to hike over the unpaved Sierra Madres, there’s just one way to get to Yelapa, and that’s by boat. You can book a day cruise, which drops you off at the shore for 3 to 5 hours, or you can take a water taxi and explore the area at your leisure.
Water taxis are available from Playa de Los Muertos and Boca de Tomatlan. From Tomatlan, you can expect a new taxi to arrive hourly. The fare is 90 pesos, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. If you’re traveling from Los Muertos, the journey is about 45 minutes. Just look for the water taxi station along the shore. You’ll generally see a line of people waiting for tickets.
Be aware that water taxis stop running at 5:00 p.m., so unless you’re planning to stay in Yelapa overnight, you’ll want to return to Puerto Vallarta before that time.

An adorable untouched Pueblo, Alta Vista has natural big rock swimming pools. A great place to cool down in the summer. Best times to visit the pools are June-November. Lichees fruit are grown near by. The village has fantastic views of the ocean on clear days. Here is some more info about Alta Vista

After the Spanish conquest, the Tecoxquines completely annihilated by epidemics and forced labor. Today native cities of the region still talk about "white Indians," ghosts appearing from the mountains to honor their ancient gods.[1]
Sign 5 – The Tecuales[edit]
The Tecoxquin ancient villages, as far as the Ixtapa salt producers, were populated by Tecuales, ancestors of the current Huichol.[1]
Sign 6 - The Water Cycle[edit]
Nayarit State is characterized by heavy rainfall. Rainfall is concentrated between May and October. The Altavista mountains attract heavy rains leaving drier areas to the East (desert weather at the opposite side). Perhaps because of this abundance of water, Altavista was considered a special place.[1]
