Twentynine Palms was aptly named by a surveyor exploring the desert in the late 1800's and the first post office was established in 1927. What is now known as Joshua Tree National Park was designated as a national monument in 1936. Twentynine Palms is also the home of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (the largest military base in the country) and the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. So much history to explore here in this desert community.

Pioneertown has its roots in Hollywood. PiTown, as it is known to locals, was established in 1946 as a functioning 1880's themed town movie set. Over 50 films and serials have been filmed here. In recent times, Pappy & Harriet's became internationally known when Paul McCartney held a surprise concert here in December 2016. And don't forget to stop by the Pioneertown Post Office, one of the most photographed post offices in the country.

Love the atmosphere here and the changing menu is always exciting. They also have live entertainment throughout the month (live bands, comedy shows, etc). Definitely worth checking out during your stay!

Services like Lyft and Uber are very limited in our area. Highly recommend having your own vehicle so you can freely explore the desert.

Be Prepared for Weather
Check the Forecast for the days of your planned trip.
Spring and fall are some of our favorite times of the year as the weather is just right. Not too hot, not too cold. Best to dress in layers.
As for the summers, the day time highs average in the upper 90s to the low 100s. We recommend you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and plan any outdoor activities such as hiking or rock climbing for the early mornings or late evenings.
In the winter, the days are pleasant but the nights can get rather chilly. We occasionally get snow too here in the desert. Quite the magical experience.
