The Wasdale Head Inn is the closest pub to us and is approximately a mile and a half away. Great place to go for food if you don't want to cook or go for a well deserved drink after climbing Scafell Pike. The pub is dog friendly.

Woodlands Tearooms is about a 20-25 minute drive down to Santon Bridge. Can highly recommend both the breakfast and the afternoon tea (the afternoon tea must be prebooked). You can also pick up any Lake District themed gifts/souvenirs from the gift shop next door.

Muncaster Castle is a good day out especially for families. There is a bird of prey centre and a maze to keep children entertained. You can also look around the castle and gardens. They run events throughout the year especially Halloween and further details can be found on their website.

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England and the walk can be easily started from the cottage. The Wasdale Mountain Rescue have become incredibly busy in recent months so to help them out please do the following:-
-Please ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing for the weather on the day.
-Make sure you have the necessary equipment with you i.e OS map, torch, mobile phone, bottled water.
- Download the whatthreewords app so you can be easily located if you do run into difficulty.

Having your own car is highly recommended.
Due to our remote location we are not easily accessible by public transport. If you want to travel around the Western Lake District a car really is a necessity.

Bringing food with you is recommended
We are not close to any supermarkets so I'd advise bringing all the groceries you need with you. Asda, Tesco and Morrisons will all deliver here so that is another option.
