This amazing farm shop is just a three minute walk from our home. Here you will find wonderful selection of fish and fresh foods, many of which are smoked on site in the smoke house.

The Sheppy in Godney Quirky bar and restaurant, five minutes from Glastonbury and ten minutes from Wells, England’s smallest city. The Sheppey is a pub out in a world of its own, amongst the peat beds and murmurating starlings of the Somerset levels. they offer brilliant modern European food, a constantly changing roster of beers and ales, and a bar covered in casks of local ciders that’ll knock your socks off. There also one of the best places to catch live music around – but that’s just our opinion.

Cider Barn

Just 100 yards down the road (turn right when you leave the house, at the bend in the road - it is though the gate on your right), 5 minute walk there, could be a bit longer on your return Orchardleigh Farm, Stone Allerton, Somerset, BS26 2NG Situated in the heart of the apple orchard next door to Old Chapel House.  Enjoy a pint of single variety Dabinett cider while sitting at the base of the tree from which the apple was harvested.  Do the same under a Yarlington Mills, a Browns apple or any of the ten apple varieties.  Alternatively, enjoy a drink in the Ad Astra tap room, once used to make cider for Ernest Shackleton's expedition to the Antarctic and also thought to have been used to make wings for Hurricane aircraft during WWII.  For those strange people who don't like cider, they have a wide range of other local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Neighbourhoods

Places we like to Walk / Hike The local area - many walks around local roads and public rights of way through the fields. You are only lost if you want to be found - so get out an explore, breath the fresh air - meet some locals and maybe a few horse riders or stray sheep. If you are out after dark you may come across lots of local wild life - Deer, Owls, Bats, and lots more. Visit Ashton Windmill on the road to Wedmore (open weekends in the summer). Simple rule of thumb - leave the house, turn left, left, left and left again. If you are a bit daring - why not go right….. Other areas close by for walks: Crook Peak Cheddar Gorge Glastonbury Tor Ebbor Gorge The Levels - Ham Wall for bird watching - see the Starling Murmurations in Autumn and Winter
