Beaches

This is a local's beach, less touristy than it's neighbours. There's a car park right by the beach or you can park on the hill leading down to Portreath - if you can find a space. You'll see The Atlantic Cafe Bar by the car park - great for fish and chips, eat in or takeaway. There are a couple of pubs, a bakery, cafe and shop/post office. This is the nearest beach to Four Lanes and is on the north coast.

A stunning beach! Walk along Fore Street St. Ives and turn down The Digey. At the end of The Digey you'll come across this beach. It's very popular with surfers. If you walk along the cliff path at the far end the views are amazing. Beautiful coloured sea and light coloured sand.

Food Scene

The Victoria Inn is a friendly pub in Four Lanes that serves great food and also has a kid's menu. It's within easy walking distance - turn right out of the park and walk along Loscombe Lane until you reach the T junction. Turn left and a short way along here you will see The Vicoria Inn on the opposite side of the road.

The Sportsmans Arms is a real 'proper' pub. It's very friendly and has a great atmosphere. There is even a very handy shop at the rear which is open whenever the pub is. Guests tell me the breakfast served here is great. Turn right out of the park and when you get to the T junction turn right. The Sportsmans can be found a short way up the road, on the opposite side. It's easy to walk to but if you want to take the car there's parking at the rear by the little beer garden.

This is a great place to eat and when the weather's good it's nice to sit in the garden. I had a kid's meal here and it was just right for me. If you're visiting Stithians Lake check this out. Sunday lunch is fab, it's very popular so you'll need to book.

Not many people know about this place because it's tucked away. It has fabulous views! You can pop in for a coffee or order a meal. It's also on the walk back to the station if you parked in St Erth and got the little train into St Ives.

Walking

To get onto the Great Flat Lode walk along Loscombe Lane. Turn left out of Lanyon until you come to the entrance of an old tin mine, South Wheal Frances, part of the Basset mines. It's really interesting to look at the preserved ruins. You can combine walking with history and imagine what life must have been like for the miners.

Garden Centres

If you love plants you will love this place. Lots of the plants for sale are raised in their own nurseries and they're not overpriced. There's lots to see so you can have a wander around and stop for lunch or a coffee in the Garden Kitchen Cafe. We recommend spending a leisurely few hours here.
