Just a 5-minute drive away is beautiful Lake Murray where days of endless fun is to be had. Boat rental facilities, lakefront restaurants, live entertainment, guided kayak tours, and the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen. Or take a 3.77 mile walk at the Lake Murray Walkway which has lake views the entire time. Parking is free if you drive across the dam and park in the designated walkers parking. Otherwise, parking is $5 to park before you cross the dam at the boat launch.

Catfish Johnny's and Rusty Anchor Marina is accessible by car or boat and are a must if you enjoy waterfront dining and entertainment. Eat a meal at Rusty Anchor which offers a delicious full menu while Catfish Johnny's serves high quality bar food with a small scale menu. It has a large upper deck covered bar area that is family friendly and a lower deck with a smaller tiki bar, music entertainment, and a dance floor. Whichever you choose, you will have lake views and can enjoy a meal or just a drink and watch the beautiful boats galore! Me, my children, and grandchildren have spent many days here. The folks you meet here are always very friendly.

Walk up the stairwell to the rooftop bar (open year-round) that has a sit down bar, sofas with large tables, table seating under an umbrella. In the winter, the gas "coffee" tables are heated, they have plenty of stand up heaters and large cozy throws to keep you warm. The city views from the rooftop are gorgeous!

For fine dining, visit Halls Chophouse. The food never disappoints and the State House view from the bar is my absolute favorite.

If you're looking for a local dive bar that serves really good food, Lucky's is the place and it's a very short drive away. Lucky's has a full menu and daily specials. It's our favorite go-to and the wait staff is very friendly. Also a place where you can take children.
