Food Scene, some of my favourite places to eat out!

There are a few lovely places to eat out locally, if you are a walker the 3 are within 3.5 miles. If not there are plenty a short drive away.
The Chequers has a lovely garden overlooking the countryside. It is more of a gastro pub, but also perfect for just a quiet drink in the bar of gardens. It is approximately 3 miles away.

Although the address is listed as Bromsgrove this is actually in the hamlet of Hanbury, close to Hanbury Hall National Trust House. Take a walk from the House across the field to the Church, take time to sit on one of a number of benches on the edge of the Church yard and take in the stunning views back across Worcestershire towards the Malverns. You can also park in the Church car park if you don't fancy walking, the Church is usually open and there are tea and coffee making facilities inside. Hanbury is approximately 6 miles from Hillview.

A beautiful Tea Room with Farm shop surrounded by countryside and pear orchards. 'Worcestershire’s award winning Orchards & Farm Shop. Housing a Farm Kitchen & Country Store. Established in 1910, Broomfield’s started from humble beginnings as a small 4-acre orchard in Bromsgrove, growing only a few varieties of heritage apples. Having endured two World Wars, Broomfield’s moved to its site in Holt Heath, Worcestershire. It was here in 1973, where Maurice Broomfield set up Broomfield’s Farm Shop - selling locally grown produce of the highest quality directly to the public. We are still very mindful that growing quality homegrown fruit sets the foundations for Broomfields to flourish. Broomfields of Holt continues as a family-run business, embodying the spirit of British fruit growers. Purveyors of the utmost quality.'

Country walks and nature

The nature trail takes in a range of habitats around the farm including a replanted traditional orchard, a wetland, several ponds, arable fields and bird food crops and covers 66 acres. In spring, visitors should listen for displaying skylarks in the fields and for reed warbler around the ponds in summer. Whitethroat and reed buntings are also worth keeping a lookout for during the summer months and large flocks of finches – green, gold and chaffinch – are plentiful throughout winter. The ponds are great for dragonflies and up to 15 different species are seen in most years including broad-bodied chaser, emperor, black-tailed skimmer and azure damselfly.
