Originally the building that housed information for new home owners in the 1940s it's been converted to an indoor/outdoor bar and eatery. Nearby on our neighborhood liquor/convenience store are large murals painted by our neighborhood artists.

Places to visit in Tempe

I love Tempe Town Lake, it's a great place for a walk or bike ride or to rent a scooter and get around. Nearby is the Tempe Center for the Arts, the lake's marina and a small park and boat rental area.

This area is easy to love, offset from Tempe Town Lake by the 202 freeway it's an outdoor area with beautiful desert growth and an irrigation canal that makes for quiet walks that almost feel as if you're alone and not in the center of a massive city.

I may work here but I love campus and often walk around the area. Our Tempe campus is over 120 years old and has examples of architecture ranging from 1890 to 2020 and also serves as an arboretum with tree specimens from around the world. There are restaurants on campus and a Starbucks and it's a lovely place to wander around.

Our neighborhood park is so sweet, it has a children's playground, skate park, labyrinth, ramadas and a wet play area for kids as well. Every night of the week you're likely to find a pick-up basketball or soccer game and it's 30 feet outside our front door.

I love A Mountain or Tempe (Hayden) Butte. Interestingly enough this rocky hillside was home to the Hayden Flour Mill and where Salt River crossing used to happen. Today you can hike to the top and take in a lovely view of downtown Tempe and see clear until Downtown Phoenix. It's a great, easy hike that can be completed by most everyone.

Papago Park is great, you can fish in the small lakes which are stocked each year or hike Papago Hole in the Rock - a classic hike every Phoenix child has been on. Adjacent to the Phoenix Zoo you may even be able to see the big horn sheep if you go all the way to Governer Hunt's white pyramid tomb.

Roosevelt Row is a bit far but easily accessible via the light rail. This neighborhood began as an artist's area and while it's much more polished now it's a fun place to spend the day between breweries, coffee shops and First Fridays.

The Desert Botanical Gardens was originally created nearly 100 years ago to house desert species from the Southwest and abroad. Tuesdays are free to visitors but anytime you choose to go you'll be impressed by the wild desert species and if you're lucky you'll see some wildlife as well.
