Alford is located in Aberdeenshire and stretches from Strathdon to near the lecht ski centre often described as the gateway to the Cairngorms. Alford has all the beauty and culture that the highlands have to offer. The River Don flows through the community offering a picturesque venue for fishing there is something for everyone. You can visit the Heritage Museum highlighting the local history, all of the highlights of the local history can be seen here. Alford is home of the Aberdeen Angus bull as it was started by local farmer William McCombie and put the village of Alford on the map in the 19th century. There is also the Grampian Transport Museum that you can visit. The school campus also offers a swimming pool. There is a dry ski slope located in the centre of Alford where you can go to do activities such as skiing and tubing, which is great for the kids. There is super play park next to the dry ski slope and also one in Haughton Caravan Park.

The Cairngorms are a mountain range National Park about 40 miles away from Cushnie, there are some lovely stops on the way: Strathdon ranch is one very popular with people with children located in Glenkindie AB33 8SU, you have to book to do this.

We are located 38 miles from Ballater where you can visit the old railway coffee shop and the old sweet shop. There are also a few nice restaurants located here. Loch Muick is a short drive from Ballater where you can see many stags if your lucky, you can see lovely views and make a walk any length that you like being up to an 8 mile perimeter walk of the Loch. You can also chose carry on from Ballater through to Braemar which is a further 11 miles, this is home of Balmoral Castle.
