St Ives is a lively town with 5 amazing beaches. I strongly suggest parking at St Erth or Lelant train station rather than driving, especially during the summer as peak holiday time parking can be a nightmare. The short train journey is a lovely experience with beautiful views of the coast and beaches. There are many lovely shops, cafes and restaurants, and St Ives Tate gallery.

A stunning walk through thatched cottages takes you to the cove at Cadgwith. It is a working fishing harbour with 2 small coves, and pub, restaurant and shop selling fresh crab. Cadgwith is famous for the 'Cadgwith Singers' who tour around the area are often found singing in the local pub.

Great surf beach, with a beach cafe! I would recommend Dan's surf school, they run surf lessons which are great to get back on the board, or start from scratch.

In the summer sun, Porthcurno beach is quite stunning; the sea is turquoise and basking sharks are sighted off the coast here. At low tide the beach opens to join Pedn Vounder next to it, which in is an unofficial nudist beach. Essential visit to the Minnack Theatre.

Extremely popular, with regular live music and a great place to watch harbour activities. In the summer the local brass band play outside on a Sunday evening, and they do their own carver style roast dinner on a Sunday which is great.

Award winning pub! Very dog friendly, with a lovely atmosphere and great food. If you are going for the Sunday roast, get there earlier in the afternoon rather than later as they may run out of their great Yorkshire puddings. Once they are gone, they are gone!

The Mussel Shoal sits right on the Harbour, a buzzy cocktail/drinks bar which also has a pontoon in the middle of the harbour which they ferry you out to. Would highly recommend for a 'drinks before dinner' vibe.
