A bit more of a drive, about 50 km from Kaslo, this is a great opportunity to explore the gems 'north of the lake'. Fry Creek is an easy hike(10km round trip, 200m elevation) suitable for beginner hikers. Bring a picnic to enjoy when you arrive at the confluence of Fry Creek and Kootenay lake.

30 minutes down the 31a highway, a beautiful curvey drive following the Kalso River, lands you at Ratallack Lodge. Park just past the bridge and see the signs leading you to the Old growth cedar trail. This trail will take only 30 minutes but we encourage you to take your time and bathe in these glories presence.
