Yes, they're $5.50, but that includes a huge scoop of ice cream between two delicious cookies (pre-assembled).

After eight years at Alice Waters' Chez Panisse, Charlie Hallowell opened up his own place and it's been fantastic to have Pizzaiolo in our neighborhood. We've tried most of the dishes on the menu and love the hustle, bustle and full, delighted stomachs when we're done with our meals each time. They're also open for breakfast, so don't miss out on that experience.

Beauty's has received rave reviews as having the best bagels in Oakland (long lines). Art grew up in San Francisco and tasted his first bagel in the early '70s. He thought it was a donut and immediately spit it out, BUT he learned to love the taste of a true bagel with its crispy shiny shell and chewy texture. After years of bagels becoming bigger and more bread-like, we've found that Beauty's creates a smaller, more authentic, great tasting bagel.

If you love spicy, order the soft tofu soup from vegetarian, seafood, and meat lover options. Art remembers asking for spicy and because he happened to be with a non-Asian group except for himself, the server thought he really didn't want "really" spicy. Art had to add more spice. The next time, he asked for spicy - he wished he had not - but it was soooo good! What?! Across the street, too.

We are proud of our Oakland Museum that used to the largest in the Bay Area until SF MOMA expanded recently (who knew). Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is a mid-century modern building, wrapped by terraced gardens, and houses California art, natural science, and history. Fridays at OMCA are spirited events with live music, food trucks, and local color.
