Just around the corner from Brenton-on-sea is the little town of Sedgefield. We enjoy visiting the beach restaurant on the popular Myoli beach at least once a holiday. The outside tables are right on the beach sand, ready for you to stick your feet into for a relaxing drink or outside fire baked pizza.

Looking for something little different and off the beaten track to do on a lazy Sunday? Tottie's Market is definitely something different, but with a taste of traditional farm kitchen food. Wholesome and big portions. We enjoy it, maybe you will too. Phone ahead and make a booking for their buffet Sunday lunch. https://www.facebook.com/TottiesFarmKitchen/

Sightseeing

We enjoyed this trip with the kids. You get to feed the elephants and then walk and take photo's with them as well. There is a small restaurant as well for those that want a good burger or pizza afterwards. We recommend you arrive early in peak season to avoid the rush and get a more private and interactive experience with your guide and the elephants. The park is on the way to Plettenbergbaai just off the main road. https://knysnaelephantpark.co.za

Knoetzie Beach is a very unusual place worth visiting. The beach is a bit of a steep walk to reach down a paved road and many steps, to an almost secluded beach, where a river emerges out of the forest and runs into the sea. We love the views, and some days you almost get lost in the mist that rolls in from the sea. https://noetziecastles.co.za https://noetzie.co.za/

Everyone should visit the Heads at least once when coming to Knysna for the first time. At the Heads is also a very nice restaurant that offers great views of the heads while you wine and dine. It does get very busy here in peak season, so be ready to walk a few hundred meters as there is limited parking at the heads.

If you want to see one of the last and probably the biggest remaining forest giants, then make a trip out to the Big Tree. The tree has some history associated dating back to 1900's. It is a 15km drive on a dirt road used for logging, so expect lots of corrugation and pot holes. It is recommended you have a SUV. There is also a small fee for entering, but probably only in peak season we suspect as it is not very well known any more. Alternatively make a stop at "The Garden of Eden" along the main road to Plettenbergbay. There are some very big trees in the small little 500m circle walk, but still a nice scenic walk in the forest.

If you love the outdoors and sightseeing, then spending a day at Robberg is worth it. Make sure you are fit enough for the hike as it is not an easy walk. Make sure you take sunscreen, a hat and enough water for the hike, as it can get hot unexpectedly. There is a beach at the end of the route, so you might want to take beach ware as well.

City/town information

Buffels Bay has a very popular beach for swimming, surfing, kayaking, etc. Definitely worth it spending a day at the beach if the weather is great. Just after the turnoff from the main road to Buffels bay, there is a nice relaxing restaurant we love to stop at sometimes to get a rustic snack and a cold drink.

I love to braai like most South African's, and Greef's is one of my favourite butcheries around. It's a small shop, but the quality is very good and selection is more than most would need.

This is one of our must see places when we come to visit. Especially if the weather looks unfavourable for a day on the beach. Here you will find a few small shops clustered together. We love Mungo shop and Mill for their quality woven textiles. As well as Pret-a-pot for their beautifully made pottery for inside as well as outside the home. You will also find a nice nursery, chocolatier, and a small eatery and many more. If or when you go to Plett or that direction, then make a 1 hour stop here. You wont regret it. We never do.

Convenience

For those that don't want to do their own Laundry, there are a few Laundries in Knysna. The one in Rawson Street in Knysna, is one we use from time to time. They charge per 7Kg load. Make sure to tell them if there are any specific cleaning requirements for any of your garments.
