How it works…
Rotating menus will reflect the season and support our farming neighbors will be served a three course, family style meal over the course of an evening. We are accommodating to food allergies and aversions, which should be passed along at the point of reservation. We will post the week's menu here, each Tuesday. If you need more information than the menu below, this experience may not be for you.
Onward, we will offer one seating each Thursday, Friday & Saturday with "Cocktail hour" beginning at 6 pm and dinner following promptly at 7 pm. We ask that you please arrive by 6:30 pm to assure everyone is able to enjoy the entire experience. Each party will have their own table. It is not a communal meal, but the experience of eating and enjoying will begin at the same time each evening.
Dinner is $75 a guest and will be purchased in advance, with beer & wine served a la carte.
Parties of 13+ require a restaurant buy out and should not book through Resy, instead contact us directly at hi@brushlandeatinghouse.com.

Hobart Book Village is a sleepy, picturesque Catskills town filled with used books and people who love them. Here, many of the shoppers have traveled great distances to browse the 5 bookstores on Main Street (it's a 3 1/2-hour drive from Brooklyn and about an hour due west of our usual stomping grounds in the town of Durham), and many of the booksellers have retired from fast-paced careers only to start their lives anew as friendly salespeople among the shelves.
If, like me, you're the sort of person who finds great joy in a well-worn cookbook, storybook, travelogue, or mystery novel that's just waiting to be reread and reborn, then you could happily spend a day or two browsing the aisles here (while dreaming about which shop you'll take over during your own retirement).

From mid-May through mid-October area farmers and artisans gather to share their creativity and bounty at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market. Located at the historic Round Barn on Route 30 Halcottsville (approximately 5 miles north of Arkville/Margaretville) the market runs Saturdays during the extended season from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Since its inception in 1991, the market has consistently been a popular shopping and socializing spot for locals residents, weekenders and even celebrities from near and far.
Among the many products featured at the market (depending on the season) are goods that are grown on local, organic and sustainable farms and crate farms. Items offered include: pasture-raised meats, trout, cheeses, breads as well as bedding plants for your garden and patio.
The market is a great place to enjoy breakfast or brunch, as there are many food vendors and picnic tables. Artisans also sell jewelry, soaps, quilts, wool, wood products and more.
