A beautiful place to watch the sunset! Paynes Prairie is a Florida State Park, encompassing a 21,000-acre savanna in Alachua County, Florida lying between Micanopy and Gainesville. It is also a U.S. National Natural Landmark. It is crossed by both I-75 and U.S. 441. When rainfall is heavy it becomes a lake.

Micanopy was the first inland settlement by migrants to Florida. It has many historical relics, information and antique stores. It became especially famous after being used as the setting for Michael J Fox's 1991 movie Doc Hollywood.

This museum will give you a multi-dimensional view of Florida--past, present, and future. The exhibits are phenomenal with lots of interactive areas for kids. The museum also hosts a unique shop and cafe. Located on the UF campus near 34th Street and next door to both the Butterfly Rainforest at UF and the Harn Museum of Art. My absolute favorite.
