Apple green taxis vs yellow taxis

the apple green taxis that you see in Brooklyn are know as "boro taxis". THey are a bit less expensive than the yellow variety. THe only difference being that the green ones cannot pick up fares in Manhattan.

Long Island Railroad to JFK

The LIRR provides service from the Atlantic Avenue hub to Jamaica Station where one can transfer to the AIrTrain service to JFK terminals. One can reach the Atlantic Avenue hub from the Borough Hall station on the 2,3,4 or 5 train. Buy a ticket for the LIRR portion in the vending machine. There is an additional $5. fee for the Airtrain. Alternatively one can take the "A" train from Jay Street Station to the Howard Beach stop and take the Airtrain from there. Make sure you take the A train going to Rockaway, not Lefferts Blvd.
