For those who love Mediterranean food, homemade, fresh ingredients, seafood. From 1977 Casa Fernando has been a family restaurant where all the family were involved in the business. The father attended the customers and was going to the market to get the best fresh fish in Marbella. The mother looking after the kitchen with traditional Spanish dishes. The speciality was fish and sea food with a house wine, no desserts and no coffee. The customers just looked for a high quality at a good price with a family and friendly service. The restaurant became more and more famous mouth by mouth by the Spanish and foreigner customers who used to call it Casa Fernando´s.

This is the first restaurant you pass coming into Benahavís. On your right, above the main street, it has a great terrace, which in summer is usually full, so reserve your table. Known by most villagers as being one of the best in value for money and also having a very extensive menu. All kind of meat and fish dishes.

Jacks is a sure winner with all the family, get ready to feast on delicious hamburgers, baby back ribs, steaks, salads, real yankie fries and amazing milkshakes. Why not finish it off with brownies, ice cream, pancakes - my mouth is drooling at the thought. Jacks is set right on the front of Puerto Banus with great views of the boats on the water; this is a great spot for a quick lunch whilst taking shade from the heat of the day or an evening out with the kids or mates! Friendly staff ensure an enjoyable meal in this vibrant setting. It’s not the cheapest burger you have had but you are guaranteed to laugh a lot as the spirit of the restaurant somehow draws it out of you, maybe it’s the cocktails, I don’t know!

Sightseeing

Marbella stretches along some 27 kilometres of coastline from Cabopino to San Pedro and boasts some of the finest beaches of the Costa del Sol. Marbella is split into several districts - Marbella East, Marbella Centre, Puerto Banus, Nueva Andalucía and San Pedro. It is a town that offers not only an international jet-set scene but also a typically Andalucian ambience and is a golfer's paradise. Stroll around the beautifully managed parks and gardens or the narrow streets of Marbella's romantic 'Casco Antiguo' (Old Town), steeped in history and so typically Andalucian. Everything you could need is found here surrounded by an incomparable landscape of sea and mountains. Marbella East begins at Cabopino - a very pretty little port - and has some of the best beaches in the area including Las Dunas which is a Natural monument. Marbella Centre comprises the Old Town, centre, beach front (Paseo Maritimo), the sports and fishing ports. Head along the Golden Mile out of Marbella to reach world famous Puerto Banus.

Benahavís is a simply delightful mountain village overlooking the Guadalmina River and according to the BBC Holiday Programme “as close to paradise as you can get”. Benahavís is just 7 km into the mountains from the main Coast, located between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda. The village itself is a delightful pueblo with pretty houses, a few shops and a simply amazing choice of restaurants. It is known locally as the Rincón de la Gastronomía or the 'dining room' of the Costa del Sol. It is always best to book a table in advance, as Spanish people and tourists come from all over Costa del Sol to have dinner there. There are a few little shops for essentials (including freshly baked bread), a pharmacy, 4 banks and some lovely galleries including that of the famous sculptor David Marshall.

San Pedro de Alcántara is very Spanish in flavour with a surprisingly good choice of international restaurants and exclusive shops - you will have to hunt them down in the warren of small streets. La Heredia. Nestled in the foothills of the Ronda Mountains, enjoys outstanding views including Los Arqueros Golf, the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the North African coastline. These spectacular vistas are to be enjoyed by day and night. The picturesque Pueblo was the vision of Francisco Parlade in the early 1980´s whose dream it was to create a village that would be admired and leave visitors wondering for how many centuries it had stood. Thus La Heredia was created in an authentic Andalucian style with meandering cobbled streets, plazas, viewing points and over 200 unique properties with antique doors and wrought iron railings.

Puerto Banus is built around a large marina where some most magnificent yachts lay at anchor. It was originally developed as an exclusive playground for the rich and famous in the 1970's yet still retains the Andalucian character with traditionally narrow streets and white-washed buildings. Nowadays there are also modern shops and celebrated restaurants, bars and nightclubs. There is a huge branch of Spain's best department store - El Corte Ingles and also a large cinema complex that shows some films in English.

Very nice white village on Costa del Sol, worth visiting to see how locals live in towns like this. This picturesque village is located 1,280ft above sea level. Walk through the narrow streets to the upper terraces. Visit tiny Chapel of Our Lady of the Rock. Beautiful views and nice places to have lunch or dinner. Lots of cute souvenir shops. Spectacular beaches and the town of Tarifa have a lot to offer: Beautiful white sand beach will absolutely blow your mind, nice beach clubs and restaurants are everywhere, and you can also visit some surf schools, rent an SUP board, and paddle around Tarifa beaches. The sweet old town has many cosy shops and cafés. Tarifa has the most chilled out atmosphere ever. A beach further north, Dunes Valdevaqueros, awaits you. Here you’ll find yourself in a wacky bizarre landscape. It’s similar to a small desert, but it’s on the seafront! The same atmosphere exists further in the beaches of Bolonia–just awesome! Qué empacar

Bring some essentials and comfy shoes

Generally, hotels / holiday rental houses provide towels, linens, shampoos, etc, so just make sure to check this before packing things of your own. Normally, you can find all the other essentials in the shops and bigger supermarkets have a variety of brands to choose from. Also, it is always a good idea to take a light coat with you, even during the summer time, as it could get windy at night. You may want to bring comfortable boots / trainers if you are planning on walking around towns and sightseeing, as streets could get steep, or you may want to go hiking or running in the mountains.
