In the city centre you will find the old Abbey which is definitely worth a visit. Franciscan monks established the abbey back in 1267. The Abbey today hosts a museum and has beautiful rose gardens and surroundings.

Very close to the house on Stickgatan is the “Charlotte Berlin’s museum” – an old, largely intact house dating back to the 19th century where visitors are given an insight into Charlotte’s life (1841-1916). Charlotte was a prominent Swedish business woman.

As the only city in the world, Ystad still has a tower watchman who sits in the tower of the church each night and blows his copper horn every 15 min between 9.15 pm-1am, signaling that everything is safe in the city.
