What to do around The Burra!

There's loads of things to do during your stay. Go back in time at Coal Creek historic park & museum; check out the local farmers' market and buy some fresh locally grown produce; wander up the street for a browse through the great variety of shops, share a laugh with some locals over a beer or two and grab a meal at one of many eateries; or venture further afield with with a scenic drive through our beautiful countryside.

What sets this park apart is that it is a heritage attraction built by a dedicated community. The park has free entry and is always a great day out for the whole family! Ride the bush tramway, dine in the cafe or simply enjoy the natural surrounds. Visit the animals within the park or enjoy a picnic in one of the many scenic spots around the park. Talk to the volunteers for knowledge on local history and let them amaze you with their skilled craftsmanship. Visit the general store for one of Victoria's finest displays and demonstrations of yesteryear. Learn the history of coal from its beginning and see the tools the men used to build their homes and their lives within South Gippsland. The line-up of produce changes each month but always includes fresh, local and organic fruit and vegetables from Alambee South, Lang Lang, Kardella, Thorpdale, Warragul and Korumburra surrounds. Then there's goats cheese from Bena, freshly caught fish from Port Franklin, sourdough bread from Yarragon, olives & olive oil from Jumbunna & Fish Creek, wine from Leongatha South, free range pork, beef, lamb from Yarragon, venison from Neerim South and eggs from Grantville plus fresh pasta, frozen berry sorbets, chilli sauce & salsas, freshly blended spice mixes, homemade pies & apple strudel, honey, vegie seedlings, David Austin roses, plants, flowers, heritage apple trees and more - all from Victorian growers and makers direct.

A scenic 15 minute drive from Korumburra, it's on almost every Sunday of the year (see below) and has loads of great vintage, retro & pre-loved bargains as well as good food & coffee, fresh produce, plants, live music and a great community vibe. Sundays from 10am (closed the Sunday before Christmas every year, and closed if Christmas and ANZAC day fall on a Sunday). Kongwak Market is plastic bag and smoke free event.
