Entertainment

Lewes maybe small and tranquil but there's plenty to entertain you. I have deliberately only listed things which are in Lewes. There's plenty of things around Lewes and there are a couple of big towns close by.
A newly built independent cinema. A lovely place to meet for coffee, glass of wine or a meal. The seats in the cinema are incredibly comfy and the ticket prices are very reasonable.

A friendly live music venue with a good dance floor. Showcasing bands and artists from the local area and beyond. It's more of a members club...open to non members...than a pub which means the drinks are cheaper. It's a great venue for a dance but maybe not somewhere I'd go just for a drink. Many gigs are free, some charge a small fee.

A public outdoor swimming pool. Originally built in 1860 making it the oldest freshwater outdoor public pool still operating in the UK. A great place to be on a hot summers day, it does get busy during weekends and school holidays so get there early...or save it for the afternoon. There is a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, snacks etc. They are fine with you bringing in picnics etc.

Into the wild

Nestled within the rolling hills of the South Downs Lewes has plenty of access to outside spaces and wildlife. There are ample opportunities for "pub walks" around the downs.
A lovely space within the town. Lots of community events happen here. Much of it accessible with bikes and buggies. All sorts of wild life to look out for.

Historic house with a stunning well maintained garden, formal flower beds, rose garden, a walled garden, expanses of grass areas, sculptures, and a stream running through it. While being well maintained and historic there is a relaxed atmosphere and you will often find children playing and people picnicking on the grass. There is a tea shop serving hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes and sandwiches. No dogs.
