The Springs is a Residential Suburb about 4 km from the Coast built from new greenfield land in 1998. It was created with a new Golf Course as its centrepiece by 2022 had a population of 11,000. It has an excellent public and a leading private school and a shopping centre with Coles as the lead retailer. It has a medical centre for doctors, dentists, physio and pharmacy

The Hinterland Blackall Range locations including Maleny and Montville with scenic views of who Sunshine Coast are a 45 min drive and provide a great contrast and climate to the Coast

Food scene
Locals spend much more time along Gympie Terrace than runs along the River than they do at Main Beach. The River has a access every form of water sport with equipment and craft for hire. It is the preferred walking area as it provides a 3 kms round trip on completely flat paths with views across the river as well as activity on it.
Gympie Terrace has a feast of bistros, coffee shops and Take Away food outlets. A special favourite is FishnChips from the side entrance to the popular restaurant called the "Boathouse" which is built on the water in the midpoint of Gympie Terrace. Each Friday afternoon hundreds of locals and visitors staying nearby gather for a picnic opposite the Boathouse and listen to great live music through till 7.30.
