Food Scene

So pleased this has just opened near us. I'm addicted to their mushroom croque monsieur and the staff are so friendly. Great coffee too.

Drinks & Nightlife

I've fallen into this place at 4am so many times! Such a secret spot...walls lined with vinyl and the space goes back for miles! Great craft beer, live DJs, pizzas, candles and all kinds of stuff!

Sightseeing

The ice rink is a must do fun activity for romantic couples, or families. They have penguins for the little bambinos and the cafe/bar/restaurant is great too. Highly recommend. We do it every year.

Parks & Nature

We love the Sausagemeet every first Sunday of the month when hundreds of dachshunds gather to frolic by the clocktower! Plus two great cafes, a pond, boules, a playground, football pitches, trees to slackline, community run garden/vegetable plot, tennis courts and the velodrome. Many an event takes place here including circuses, the mini marathon for children, Thai festival, Together the People, and of course Gay Pride.

Entertainment & Activities

We love the roller discos provided by our good friends GYSO (get your skates on) who can be found at Mouselcombe Leisure Centre on a Saturday at 6-7:30pm and King Alfred's on a Sunday afternoon 3:15-4:30pm There's plenty of music and games, friendly and helpful staff and even lessons if you need them. Occasionally there are fancy dress events (neon parties and Halloween for example). Check their Facebook page for details. Entry is £4 each, skate hire £1 and spectators are free.
